X.Org Server 1.12 Will Likely Have X Input 2.2

Posted by Michael Larabel on November 28, 2011

X Input 2.2 will likely be merged into X.Org Server 1.12.

Following last week's release of the first X.Org Server 1.12 snapshot, which didn't have a new version of the X Input sub-system, Keith Packard mentioned he may delay or bring forward the xorg-server 1.12 release to accommodate his travel plans during February. (X.Org Server 1.12 was originally set to be out in February, but then he's changed these plans to have the release final in late January or early March.)

Peter Hutterer had asked Keith Packard for more details regarding the planned scheduling change and how it affects the merge window. Peter is curious to know, since if the xorg-server 1.12 release is pushed up, X Input 2.2 will likely not be ready.

There's several messages concerning X Input 2.2 for the X.Org Server 1.12 schedule beginning with this mailing list message. Right now it looks like X Input 2.2 should still be ready for this next major X Server release.

For details about X Input 2.2, see this posting from September.
