Libinput 1.7 Released With Support For Lid Switches, Scroll Wheel Improvements
Peter Hutterer has announced the new release of libinput 1.7.0 as the input handling library most commonly associated with Wayland systems but also with Ubuntu's Mir as well as the X.Org Server via the xf86-input-libinput driver.
New to libinput 1.7 is support for switches. As explained by Peter, "Closing the [laptop] lid now disables the touchpad to avoid ghost touches but it also makes the lid switch event itself available to any callers."
Libinput 1.7 also changes it so that touchpads can use pressure values to detect touches instead of just BTN_TOUCH events, improvements for wheel tilt events, middle mouse button emulation is now compatible with scroll wheel emulation, tablet pad LEDs now use the new kernel LED implementation, and various other changes.
Those interested in the fine details of the Linux input state can find out the latest details on libinput via the 1.7 release announcement.
