WAYLAND
Peter Hutterer announced the first release candidate on Wednesday for the upcoming libinput 1.7.0, the input handling library that's widely-used by Wayland / X.Org / Mir systems.

Libinput 1.7 was described by Peter as "quite a large one and several big features were merged." These new features making up libinput 1.7 include support for lid switches to avoid ghost events on the touchpad when a laptop lid is closed (among other possible use-case for switches), touchpads now use pressure values to detect touches, wheel tilt improvements, improved middle mouse button emulation, tablet-pad LEDs now interface correctly with the new kernel LED implementation, and there are various other changes too.

So, yes, this is quite a big release for this growing input handling library. More details on libinput 1.7 RC1 via the release announcement.
