Version 0.3 of Elementary OS, which is codenamed Freya, is now available after being under development for more than one year.

Elementary OS continues to be Ubuntu-based with this new version being derived from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. The big selling point though of Elementary OS is its Pantheon Desktop Environment and custom applications. Pantheon in Elementary OS Freya has improved multi-tasking ability, there's new features to the desktop's application menu, a new notification system was crafted, settings panel improvements, and other polishing to the Pantheon Desktop.

The Elementary OS 0.3 release can be downloaded from SourceForge. The release announcement will likely be posted in short-order at the Elementary Blog.
