DragonFlyBSD 4.4 delivers improvements to the i915 and Radeon DRM drivers that are now up to parity with their state from Linux 3.18, supports collation for named locales, a overhauled locale system, and the regex library was replaced with the TRE library. Also very prominent to DragonFlyBSD 4.4 is that it uses the Gold linker by default.
There's also been improvements to the HAMMER2 file-system but the original HAMMER file-system remains the default. HAMMER2 in DragonFlyBSD 4.4 adds support for root mounts and live deduplication.
With the Intel DRM graphics update for DragonFlyBSD 4.4 is now working Broadwell acceleration. There is also Valley View / Bay Trail and Cherryview support. Prep work is done for Intel Skylake, but that isn't yet in full order. DragonFlyBSD's system console also now supports DRM drivers by default.
Other DragonFlyBSD 4.4 changes include new networking drivers, asynchronous UDP connections, improved powerd, and the removal of the malloc.h header as the first done so by a BSD operating system.
