Akiva: You know I would drop chrome if firefox had better space management Akiva: I wonder how 4.0 is going to shape up zzzuper: chrome rocks zzzuper: : ] Akiva: zzzuper: but it is java, and wont integrate with gtk or emerald window managers Akiva: so it is a bit off~ zzzuper: is chrome java? s_20: zzzuper: what gave you that idea? zzzuper: i dont think so zzzuper: 13:48 zzzuper: but it is java, and wont integrate with gtk or emerald window managers zzzuper: its written in c++ right? Akiva: zzzuper: I thought it was java, zzzuper: wouldnt be fastest if it was.. zzzuper: : ] Akiva: regardless, I don't care, I just know it does not integrate with linux wm Akiva: kde4 would be a good place though for its tab system zzzuper: its webkit=c++ zzzuper: running win atm : S zzzuper: fed upp with linux s_20: Akiva: if you bothered to check the appearance settings, you can make it look gtk-esque Akiva: s_20: bothered looking there, can't Akiva: you can change colours, that is just about it s_20: Akiva: it's using my gtk theme, not just the colours Akiva: s_20: would this include custom corner buttons? Perhaps I was premature? s_20: i'm not quite sure what you mean by that, all buttons whatsoever are drawn properly for me, using my (kde/qt) gtk theme Akiva: ah, found it... you win this time s_20... Akiva: >_> ~~ s_20: :) zzzuper: is it fast i linux? zzzuper: read that latest firefox is 0.001 ms faster now zzzuper: : D zzzuper: in win s_20: zzzuper: in linux chrome feels (renders) a lot faster than firefox s_20: i'm not talking about javascript performance s_20: just my subjective impression zzzuper: yeah zzzuper: it was ridiculas in the beginning zzzuper: chrome was doubling performance every major version zzzuper: insane markey: hey guys markey: is Michael Larabel here? giselher: ping michaellarabel markey: michaellarabel: hey markey: michaellarabel: nice article about KDE / Qt markey: (I'm one of the guys you cited) markey: michaellarabel: and kudos for being the first ;) markey: Ryan Paul does not work on weekends markey: so, Ars Technica will be later than you dandel: it's tough to get amd to even properly acknowledge bugs that appear... http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1942 Azerthoth: A(nother) T(errible) I(nvestment) dandel: not really, Azerthoth... it's just that ati has bugs which creap in on major changes. dandel: the latest major change is ubuntu 10.10 and the latest xorg server... that's a definite cause of a lot of bugs... anyways, the bug with ati is uninitialized variables. Azerthoth: dandel, I always hear 'its fine except for this or that bug' but as thats been going on for years ... I'd say the problems with ati were endemic and not specific dandel: I prefer ati over nvidia because i've had multiple video cards from nvidia break for no good reason. dandel: with that said... it's clear why i'm avoiding nvidia... bad hardware experience. Azerthoth: cant fault you for that, same reason why I'll never buy anything from asus again dandel: I've had a few problems with ati cards, however that was from bios mods... the nvidia cards failed under stock use. dandel: also, with nvidia, my friends which use em i haft to lend my cheap backup card to. which oddly enough is an nvidia card (which i got for free a while back) Azerthoth: I have had one nvidia card die a premature death but thats it michaellarabel: markey: Ah okay, I work everyday :) markey: michaellarabel: that pays off, doesn't it :) markey: I dunno why Ars doesn't do it markey: I told Ryan that I find it stupid markey: but oh well markey: that's Conde Naste markey: michaellarabel: http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=10/10/31/2125201 markey: :D markey: but you were first ;) genjix: woo! i love this idea genjix: kde -> qt zxsuper: : ]
