megatog615: uh
megatog615: hi
megatog615: just want to let you know that openarena, world of padman, smokin guns, tremulous, and urban terror all run on the same engine
megatog615: and that this engine is mostly cpu bound
megatog615: and that there's hardly any opengl in them to begin with
megatog615: and that testing anything past ioquake3 +set timedemo 1 +demo four is redundant practically
asraniel: megatog615: phoronix has never been known for good benchmarks. just take them as a indication
megatog615: im just saying it would be better to have more variety rather than 5 games that run on the same engine and one other game
Flyser_: the problem is that few games working with open source drivers exist
Flyser_: at least thats what I heard some time ago
megatog615: Flyser_: falling back on games that do most of their graphics on the cpu is not a excuse
megatog615: especially when you're benchmarking *graphics drivers*
megatog615: the quake 3 engine was a good benchmark 10 years ago
megatog615: doom 3 could have been on this list
Flyser_: megatog615: then come up with a better solution
megatog615: i just did
megatog615: 04:19 < megatog615> doom 3 could have been on this list
megatog615: put in different engine games
Flyser_: does doom 3 work on all open and closed source graphics drivers?
Flyser_: without glitches
megatog615: i dont know, you're the one with the hardware
megatog615: i dont keep a r600 gpu around
Flyser_: I am? :D
megatog615: i dont know
Flyser_: I don't work for phoronix^^
megatog615: all im saying is phoronix probably doesnt know that those 5 games are all on the same engine and that they dont seem to be expecting similar results out of all of them
megatog615: you'd think they would though
Flyser_: they do
Flyser_: I asked the same question here some time ago, too ;)
megatog615: their latest benchmarks consist of like 8 graphs, all but one of which have identical results
megatog615: plus its on 3 pages which is even worse
