vtorri: michaellarabel: what should i do if i want to send you an article ?
vtorri: michaellarabel: it's about that: http://www.enlightenment.org/p.php?p=news/show&l=en&news_id=23
mastertheknife: I just came back from a vacation and i see the article from 23 aug about valve saying there will be no linux client
mastertheknife: so sad :/
mastertheknife: Seems like they nuked the client
Ivanovic: mastertheknife: if you read the forums you would have seen michaellarabels post
Ivanovic: http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showpost.php?p=143920&postcount=668
mastertheknife: oh thank you
zzzuper: i think its coming
zzzuper: : ]
Ivanovic: i am quite sure that it will eventually come, though i got no idea regarding the timeframe to expect
mastertheknife: I hope its true, my time is so limited nowdays and im tired of messing with wine to get games to work properly
zzzuper: better get hacking to get your gfxdriver working first thou..
Ivanovic: zzzuper: honestly, if you want the speed you can always rely on the proprietary drivers
Ivanovic: they should be fine for gaming
Ivanovic: sure, the open source drivers need *lots* of work to get in a good enough shape to run the latest games once steam really is on linux
zzzuper: yeah but..
zzzuper: linux should be the fastest
Ivanovic: uhm, okay, i see
zzzuper: and best
zzzuper: : ]
zzzuper: but its not
Ivanovic: you don't know much about how expensive coding drivers and optimizing those is
zzzuper: it bugs me
Ivanovic: it is a whole lot of work, and the fun part is not always existing, so not many people do it in their free time
zzzuper: yeah, it takes time..
Ivanovic: if the drivers ain't good enough for you: work on improving them
Ivanovic: contributors that do a good job are always welcome in open source!
zzzuper: ofc
zzzuper: but as a consumer
zzzuper: i want a linux based desktop that just works + is fast with media
zzzuper: and that desktop is xp/win7 right now

gsedej_work: hi! I am interested if there is "verbose" option... When test fails (unsupported GPU) it says nothing more than it fails. Is there way to see what specificly failed?
gsedej_work: I have RV380 and testing Gallium driver...
gsedej_work: anyone knows? What about some debug option?
Nevtus: michaellarabel might if he's around
gsedej_work: if he has time :P

dashcloud: how can I force my processor to use the highest speeds? I've apparently enabled a deep powersave feature because running powertop with a compile going shows my processor spending at least half its time at the lowest CPU speed.
