asciiwolf: hello
bkero: dandel: If any test overheats your computer you have problems. :/ Computers are typically rated at 100% duty cycle
dandel: bkero, i know that, but it's not my computer that is having the problems.
dandel: i can run my computer at 100% duty cycle for hours on end and the system won't go over 55c.
bkero: Ok
dandel: anyways, the problem is the pc i was talking about didn't even get 5 min at 100% duty cycle and it was overheating.
bkero: Try reseating the heatsink/fan
dandel: i told the guy to do that, but his problem is the fan does not kick in over 750 rpm
dandel: as for my system, hours of linpak, and other tests do not cause problems... although some prime programs can lock up or blue screen windows when i use windows.
bkero: Clean all the dust out of his fan? :/
giselher: steam for linux CONFIRMED: http://www.ubuntugamer.com/ :)
bkero: troll
giselher: who? I?
FliPPeh: TROLL
FliPPeh: And that countain is spooky
FliPPeh: 28 days later.
JEEB: It surely confirms nothing, but on the other hand it's a well-known fact that Valve had internal linux builds of steam. (they could've killed that side of the project ages ago, yes -- so this fact doesn't confirm anything else but the fact that steam was built for linux as well during the mac os x development)
s_20: JEEB: it never ceases to amaze me how so many people choose to ignore those facts
nyxkn: ...you know it's time to stop coding when you realise you've spent half an hour writing something that could've been done in half a minute
Ivanovic: michaellarabel: already writing the news about added tiling support for r6xx/r7xx in mesa/xf86-video-radeon master?
Ivanovic: commited about two hours ago by alex
Ivanovic: WOW
Ivanovic: really short test with gallium on my rv670
Ivanovic: xorg (composite via opengl in kwin) is significantly slower
Ivanovic: *but* interestingly sacred-gold is about as fast as with r600 classic
Ivanovic: with compositing deactivated it is in fact faster than classic r600 in sacred-gold
Ivanovic: getting some 20fps in my testcase where i had about 15fps before
Ivanovic: though glxgears is f***ed up
Gnurdux: lol, just realized it's august and no steam news
mikeplus64: The Northern Hemisphere's Summer is just about over, right?
