Galaxy|: I keep getting a cannot find -laticalrt
Galaxy|: i have the ATISTREAMSDKROOT and other variables setup as well as the proper path variables
NigeyUK: weeeeeeeeeee
FliPPeh: bow bow chikka bow
FliPPeh: More useless rants: since when did a mouse click become a unit of measurement?
Ivanovic: yesterday!
Ivanovic: or was it the day before?
Ivanovic: not 100% sure
FliPPeh: !
asraniel: it is actually a unit of measurement
asraniel: for example in usability studies
asraniel: to know the complexity of a task for the user
FliPPeh: Another word I hate, right on top with "user experience"
asraniel: FliPPeh: i feel some frustration ;)
FliPPeh: Might be :/
asraniel: learning an exam about usability stuff?
FliPPeh: Over the last few years I learned how I should probably NOT work in the end-user departement
FliPPeh: I hate customers.
asraniel: jeah that i know for some time ;) thats why i continued my studies ;)
FliPPeh: This is something that probably comes to everyone who's a power user
FliPPeh: Every looking at my girlfriend "working" on the computer makes me aggressive!
FliPPeh: I MEAN WHO THE HELL PRESSES CAPSLOCK, THE KEY, AND CAPSLOCK AGAIN?
FliPPeh: s/Every/Even
nyxkn: lol
FliPPeh: Or my mother trying to put the USB male into the LP1
FliPPeh: Despite it being 5 times as big!
nyxkn: be comprehensive :P
FliPPeh: Or my brother accepting "lol_ur_pic.exe" on IM from a germany friend who's strangely speaking english right now!
FliPPeh: s/germany/german
FliPPeh: I should stop making typos
nyxkn: you should actually be happy there are people like those. it wouldn't be nice if they were all better than you :)
FliPPeh: Hell yes
FliPPeh: I shouldn't let it get too far or I'll end up like Zhivalgo on #c did. "The program is working, you're just stupid" as a greeting :)
nyxkn: heh
The_Muh: does anyone have a guest-pass for CC:S ?
The_Muh: i want to test it - but i dont have money =/
FliPPeh: The_Muh: DON'T DO IT
The_Muh: why?
FliPPeh: Once you play CS:S your souls is tainted forever
The_Muh: lol
FliPPeh: srsly
FliPPeh: Play TF2
FliPPeh: That's for winners only
The_Muh: i have tf2
FliPPeh: And you ARE a winner, aren't you?
The_Muh: but i want to test CS:S
FliPPeh: That'a boy.
The_Muh: when you dont like CS:S... you can give you CS:S-pass to me ^^
FliPPeh: You don't know steam, do you?
FliPPeh: It's registered in my account forever.
The_Muh: not very good ^^'
FliPPeh: AND EVER
The_Muh: dont use steam often... maybe 1 times a month for playing TF2
FliPPeh: but srsly, CS:S times of glory are over once and for all
FliPPeh: Since it rose to popularity, it's gotten so much worse with the children playing
FliPPeh: AND DON'T FORGET, according to our government, CS:S turns us into school-shooters.
FliPPeh: Guter Schitt.
The_Muh: lol
FliPPeh: \o
djura-san: o/
FliPPeh: lala
FliPPeh: What's up with ubuntu always differing from the rest of the world?
FliPPeh: Something about btrfs as default in a few releases
stormshadow: hi
FliPPeh: Oh damn them youtube
FliPPeh: They added a vuvuzela button
stormshadow: need help with NVIDIA ION configuration using the latest "nv" driver - I know I should use NVIDIA's propriety binary but I'd like to first get "nv" working. The latest driver recognises the chip, but I can't get 1280x1024 working. I only managed 1024x768.
FliPPeh: Try nouveau!
stormshadow: the issue i have with nouveau is related to drm modules. Has anyone tried "nv" at 1280x1024?
FliPPeh: I'd try if I had ION. Sadly, the only thing I have is Pinetrail ;x
stormshadow: the strange thing is that the monitor goes out of sync with 1280x1024. VESA driver sets it up correctly
RambJoe: http://susestudio.com/
FliPPeh: RambJoe: Can you use it to make it none-SuSE?
FliPPeh: :)
FliPPeh: That reminds me of SLAX
FliPPeh: SLAX was fun
RambJoe: i dunno you need an ivite to use it :(
FliPPeh: Well
FliPPeh: I rather keep using arch
FliPPeh: Customizable enough
RambJoe: i know but
RambJoe: this is good for n00bs
RambJoe: = more linux users
RambJoe: = steam for linux
FliPPeh: Who wants noobs on linux? :(
RambJoe: lol :(
FliPPeh: "I DELETED MY /USR HOW I UNDELETE???ßßß?????????ßßßßßßßß??????ßßßßßßß????????"
FliPPeh: "WHERE IS RECYCLE BIN!"
FliPPeh: HURR DURR
AdrianBroher: you assume they know /usr
FliPPeh: They'd probably use it as /home
RambJoe: http://www.micropoll.com/akira/mpview/953583-261266
RambJoe: i need to see results
AdrianBroher: think about "Where is my c: drive?"
RambJoe: lol
FliPPeh: :(
RambJoe: oooh i got an invite
FliPPeh: Linux was never meant for noobs.. ubuntu is advanced enough
Daekdroom: "Y cant i run all thes games? people keep sayin i need wine for dem"
FliPPeh: They'd probably get drunk before figuring out what's what
RambJoe: whats the best distro for servers
FliPPeh: Arch Linux
Daekdroom: Arch Linux for servers? O.o
FliPPeh: The Question is *, the answer is Arch Linux
FliPPeh: Why not?
RambJoe: lol
FliPPeh: Arch Linux is NOTHING be default, so it can be ANYTHING when you're done
FliPPeh: My server runs arch
Daekdroom: I'd expect answers like.. Debian stable, CentOS/RedHat..
FliPPeh: pfff
FliPPeh: stable
Daekdroom: More like old fashion..
FliPPeh: STABLE IS FOR PUSSIES WHO CAN'T FIX BREAKAGE!!!!!!1111
FliPPeh: loves dem breakage
Daekdroom: Or for those who can't afford to have breakage..
FliPPeh: But seriously, the only chance to break something is running on too bleeding edge software
FliPPeh: If I were to update my server running arch, there could break something
FliPPeh: But my server doesn't need bleeding edge to work
FliPPeh: So stable == true
FliPPeh: My notebook runs arch :)
FliPPeh: And so will my netbook in a few weeks
FliPPeh: is a fanboy
AdrianBroher: oh really?
FliPPeh: Do I spot sarcasm?
AdrianBroher: nah
Daekdroom: No, but he does, FliPPeh :P
FliPPeh: Alrighty then!
FliPPeh: I'm dead serious
FliPPeh: Or for harry potter fans: http://roflrazzi.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/celebrity-pictures-gary-oldman-stop-sirius.jpg
nyxkn: lol
mjr: heh
mjr: ObPotter, http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5782108/1/Harry_Potter_and_the_Methods_of_Rationality
FliPPeh: http://www.vuvuzela-time.co.uk/
nyxkn: first chapter was pretty cool mjr. i'll probably read the rest too :)
mjr: wait till it gets going properly ;)
nyxkn: not finished yet?
mjr: no, not finished yet, but I referred to when he gets the plot properly up and running
mjr: which _has_ happened ;)
nyxkn: lol
FliPPeh: http://0xc0ffee.com/
FliPPeh: NOO
FliPPeh: Someone stole it
FliPPeh: lo what the hell
FliPPeh: I just turned my printer on and it printed something
FliPPeh: It printed a shell session
FliPPeh: From 4:15 AM
LibertyZero: Where can I find daily alternate images of Ubuntu? I thought they might be at http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ but there doesn't seem to be any :-(
RambJoe: http://www.sateuropa.co.uk/product_overview.asp?id=2017&catid=2&subcat=52
RambJoe: is that good
RambJoe: i swear there was a card that supported ariel too
GNU\colossus: I don't know that card. Again, I advise you to get a TechnoTrend S2-3200
RambJoe: ah thanks that was it
RambJoe: i forgot what it was called :)
RambJoe: this supports ariels too
RambJoe: http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/products/data_hvr4000.html
RambJoe: doesn't mention linux though :(
GNU\colossus: what is ariels?
RambJoe: aerial
RambJoe: i mean like terrestial
GNU\colossus: ah I see
GNU\colossus: I wouldn't buy a combo device for DVB-T and DVB-S2. just get separate devices if you want that.
RambJoe: ok
GNU\colossus: there are plenty pf A-OK DVB-T devices for USB
RambJoe: are sattelite ones more expensive
GNU\colossus: yes, DVB-T adapters for USB are dirt-cheap
GNU\colossus: you can get them under 20€
RambJoe: ok thanks :)
RambJoe: so the technotrend support is built in the kernal?
GNU\colossus: you should try to look for a device based on dib0700
GNU\colossus: the S2-3200 is supported since 2.6.31 vanilla, if memory serves
RambJoe: what program do you use
GNU\colossus: VDR
GNU\colossus: and mplayer
RambJoe: hard to find dvb-t2 cards
RambJoe: freeview hd needs it
nyxkn: is there any official archlinux mirror providing deltas yet?
FliPPeh: deltas?
nyxkn: hmm, yeah. pacman has long had an option to work with deltas
nyxkn: no mirrors providing them though
FliPPeh: alpha, beta, gamma, delta?
Daekdroom: FliPPeh, and you call yourself a arch fan..
Giselher: nyxkn: there is
Giselher: not official
FliPPeh: Seriously, never heard of those deltas.
FliPPeh: Probably because I do not need them...
sado1: deltas are packages that "patch" programs instead of replacing them
Giselher: deltas: binary diffs
FliPPeh: So, what are they?
FliPPeh: Aha!
FliPPeh: Don't need them :)
Daekdroom: That's an interesting approach
FliPPeh: lives on happily
Daekdroom: Should be useful on dialups..
FliPPeh: Oh yes
FliPPeh: But...
Daekdroom: But..?
nyxkn: silly fast connection users :P
FliPPeh: Who'd use linux, which is basically ALL ABOUT downloading packages, on dialup?
FliPPeh: Unless they don't need to update
Daekdroom: FliPPeh, well, the point is: There is a way to make dial up users migrate to linux
FliPPeh: s/linux/linux distributions/
Daekdroom: ;)
nyxkn: fedora's yum works happily with deltas
Daekdroom: Well, dialup is getting deprecated on most of the places...
nyxkn: it's incredibly handy
Giselher: arch uses xz compression so the packages are really small
FliPPeh: Dialup was that stuff that was billed per minute, right?
FliPPeh: I remember that.
nyxkn: they have flat plans too nowadays
Daekdroom: FliPPeh, I remember that I could only use it on Saturdays and Mondays, because those 2 days weren't billed..
FliPPeh: Giselher: Do you have some number how many of the packages have already been migrated to xz?
Giselher: Flibppeh: All except pacman, openssl, libarchive, libfetch, zlib
FliPPeh: Oh nice
Giselher: but as soon as there are new install images they will also be migrated
Giselher: the old install isos don't have xz-utils
Giselher: in ArchHurd: we already uses xz for all packages
FliPPeh: Pacman was updated just recently
FliPPeh: Still the old format?
Giselher: /var/cache/pacman/pkg says tar.gz on pacman
Giselher: I should delete the cache soon :D
FliPPeh: :)
FliPPeh: xz... wasn't that forked out of 7zip?
FliPPeh: Nah, that was lzma...
Giselher: no lzma
Giselher: It takes forever to compres but its smaller and decompres faster than bz2
Daekdroom: Giselher, XZ is a LZMA2 implementation, isn't it?
Giselher: yes,
Giselher: the previous packages was called lzma-utils in arch
FliPPeh: grr
FliPPeh: Trolltech is down
Daekdroom: Trolls?! Where?
FliPPeh: YOUS TROLLIN
Daekdroom: Instead of Ghostbusters, we should have Trollbusters..
FliPPeh: heh, localization gone wrong
FliPPeh: [0x2580e58] signals interface error: Caught Unterbrechung signal, exiting...
FliPPeh: Achtung! Unterbrechung error!
GNU\colossus: Wurst und Bier, bitte!
Giselher: mhm Bier :P
Giselher: uh, new nvidia package is in testing :D
Giselher: Aw, I hate the phoronix distributions speed test
GNU\colossus: you kidding? it's awesome to see metric shittons of barely readable graphs that tell you absolutely NOTHING of relevance, page after page after page…
GNU\colossus: and right there under each of those grossly plotted graphs, you read something along the lines of "We ran some useless benchmark here. This sentence is stating the obvious."
GNU\colossus: "Ubuntu is 0.0013% faster than Feodra here."
FliPPeh: For the times, they are a-changin...
RambJoe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkDD03yeLnU&feature=player_embedded lol wut
Sleepy_Coder: Yeah I've always wanted to step on her face.
RambJoe: lol
FliPPeh_: RambJoe: Possibly related: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2rGTXHvPCQ&feature=player_embedded
RambJoe: irc = a chat program

FliPPeh_: I'm always amoused how less of a clue the outside world has on the internet
RambJoe: luckily i speak leet
RambJoe: th4t5 50 h07
FliPPeh_: There was a documentation in TV here a few years ago where they talked about hackers
FliPPeh_: IRC was a topic, too
RambJoe: they probably think it will make them sound smart to the average viewer lol
FliPPeh_: And guess what footage they had to show...
FliPPeh_: A conversation in #debian
RambJoe: lolol
FliPPeh_: About someone's harddrive failing
RambJoe: lol
FliPPeh_: EVIL STUFF
FliPPeh_: Failing harddrives are used by terrorist
FliPPeh_: They make excellent throwing weapons
RambJoe: what channel was it on
FliPPeh_: Some german channel
FliPPeh_: I don't remember...
RambJoe: oh
FliPPeh_: One of the kind only elderly people watch
FliPPeh_: http://www.adequacy.org/stories/2001.12.2.42056.2147.html
FliPPeh_: Another gem :)
RambJoe: If your child is becoming a hacker, one of his first steps will be to request a change to a more hacker friendly provider. wtf
FliPPeh_: I like #8
RambJoe: lunix
RambJoe: LOL
RambJoe: is this srs?
FliPPeh_: Never found out
RambJoe: It is based on a program called "xenix", which was written by Microsoft for the US government.
FliPPeh_: hurr durr
FliPPeh_: God, I love linux
FliPPeh_: mount -o some_iso /media/cd/
FliPPeh_: I always had to download some invasive tools on windows
FliPPeh_: Sad times
Daekdroom: uses a GUI for mounting ISOs
FliPPeh_: I use a GUI for like nothing :/
Daekdroom: I'm too lazy to memorize commands.
RambJoe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRU1JKHbn7Y&feature=related
FliPPeh_: After a while they type by itself
FliPPeh_: :)
RambJoe: i want a camera with 1billion megapixels
FliPPeh_: http://nileshbabu.com/2009/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/CSI_01.jpg
RambJoe: lol
FliPPeh_: http://themavesite.com/TMS-Pictures/2009-10/Zoom-CSIInvestigation.jpg
extnct: ROFL
FliPPeh_: Looks like our murderer
FliPPeh_: *puts on sunglasses*
FliPPeh_: got murdered
FliPPeh_: YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
RambJoe: lollo
FliPPeh_: drives off in a boat
Daekdroom: "We enchanced the quality of this 8-pixel image the camera got from a glass across the street, it's clearly possible to see the suspect."
Daekdroom: I wouldn't mind a forensic show that was VERY realistic.. like.. showing how flawed the whole thing is..
Sleepy_Coder: A show that discredits the evidence of other CSI shows :p
Sleepy_Coder: buwhahahahaha
Daekdroom: <3s Forensic Files
Sleepy_Coder: I think all of them on that show should be jailed for tampering with evidence, it's the only possible way they could consistently get such phenomenal results :p
FliPPeh_: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFUlAQZB9Ng&feature=related
FliPPeh_: dun dun, freaking DUN!
Daekdroom: Every forensic investigation drama should be classified as SciFi shows.
Daekdroom: Nuff said
FliPPeh_: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PuSgWsjpLs&feature=related
FliPPeh_: Ahaha
FliPPeh_: I love this.
Daekdroom: FliPPeh_, I didn't understand that
FliPPeh_: Wait till about the end.
FliPPeh_: When he tries to re-insert the toner cartridge
RambJoe: lol wut
Daekdroom: Lol
Daekdroom: That's.. sad.
FliPPeh_: You think THAT'S sad?
Daekdroom: Yeah.

FliPPeh_: To get a reflecting background
RambJoe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48ipiTj2ymQ
RambJoe: computer literate is still n00b im guessing
FliPPeh_: It's funny how they use buzz terms...
FliPPeh_: For example I would be a "Digital Native"
FliPPeh_: I wonder who is designing all these flashy hollywood computer interfaces
FliPPeh_: With 5ms delay in each loop iteration to get eye candy "I'M SEARCHING!!!!1111" effects
RambJoe: lol
RambJoe: notice all the "high tech future stuff"
FliPPeh_: And flashy sounds
FliPPeh_: BEEP BEEP
RambJoe: always looks really impracticle
FliPPeh_: OMG! SOMEONE ENTERED IRC! ALERT!
FliPPeh_: I'll write it out for you, word. by. word.
RambJoe: like those screens on HL2
FliPPeh_: WAIT NOT DETAILED ENOGUH!
FliPPeh_: Char by char!
FliPPeh_: I liked them
FliPPeh_: The characters would punch on them and magic be happening
RambJoe: i'd take a normal LCD over those shitty 30% transparent flickery blocky screens
FliPPeh_: I want a flashy interface if it's practical
FliPPeh_: I want to feel like a real hacker
FliPPeh_: Just this once :(
FliPPeh_: I have two monitors... but it's not enough!
RambJoe: i have two monitors :P
FliPPeh_: Same size?
RambJoe: linux terminal looks more hackerish than GUI
RambJoe: both 24" 1920x1200
FliPPeh_: Luck you
FliPPeh_: 1680 x 1050 and 1024 x 768
FliPPeh_: :)
FliPPeh_: 22" and 15"
FliPPeh_: http://www.nand.net/~demaria/hollywood.txt
FliPPeh_: tehe
FliPPeh_: 1. Any PERMISSION DENIED has an OVERRIDE function.
RambJoe: lol
FliPPeh_: 7. The more high-tech the equipment, the more buttons it has. However,
FliPPeh_: everyone must have been highly trained, because the buttons aren't labeled.
RambJoe: 26. Microsoft Windows doesn't exist. Macintosh has a 75% market share.
RambJoe: 27. GUI operations, such as image selection and manipulation, can be handled easily and quickly via the keyboard.
Sleepy_Coder: imagemagick <3
Daekdroom: It didn't mention the fact that there aren't keyboard shortcuts, instead everything has its very own button..
FliPPeh_: Except for screenshots
FliPPeh_: Which require 59 keypresses
RambJoe: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/06/24/2936414.htm lol
FliPPeh_: I like Kim Jong Il
FliPPeh_: He's a fashon icon
FliPPeh_: And know how to annoy the U.S.
RambJoe: lol
RambJoe: is he trollin'
Daekdroom: U.S. is like, totally going to pay it, right away..
FliPPeh_: Kim is going to fuck 'em up good if they don't
FliPPeh_: With...
FliPPeh_: more bomb tests
FliPPeh_: and stuff
FliPPeh_: North Korea, poking good fun since 1945.
RambJoe: wtf can you really get viruses from clicking links on windows
FliPPeh_: If you're using IE6...
RambJoe: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=125524883
FliPPeh_: Yes.
FliPPeh_: Or simply reading emails
FliPPeh_: If the html rendering is faulty
FliPPeh_: Windows is a bomb
FliPPeh_: Invalid Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator
RambJoe: oh
RambJoe: everyone was saying dont click virus and stuff =/
FliPPeh_: While I was using windows, I didn't have an anti virus scanner
FliPPeh_: And yet I never had an infectio
FliPPeh_: n
RambJoe: chrome uses more ram than firefox
FliPPeh_: Not for me!
RambJoe: was using like 2gb wtf
FliPPeh_: Also, it's running faster than FF for me /:
FliPPeh_: How many tabs?
RambJoe: i closed it but loads
FliPPeh_: Remember, each task is a process
FliPPeh_: As is each plugin
RambJoe: about 40-50 probably
FliPPeh_: Hell of a lot tabs
FliPPeh_: I have 10 at max :(
RambJoe: chrome is so messy with tabs
RambJoe: they just keep getting smaller and smaller
RambJoe: no scrolling like firefox has
FliPPeh_: You could split out every few tabs
FliPPeh_: And have multiple windows
FliPPeh_: Oh god
FliPPeh_: I wonder how some people can stand their own coding styles
FliPPeh_: " void"
FliPPeh_: "someFunc() {"
FliPPeh_: on purpose.
boombatower: heh
FliPPeh_: Kaboom
mikeplus64: I have a little problem with the "A Five-Way Linux Distribution Comparison In 2010" ... Apparently all distros were left in "their stock configuration" but with Arch specifically that is ridiculous.
mikeplus64: Arch hasn't got a "stock configuration" at all. The fact that the file system is ext4 and the DE is KDE 4.4.4 ( let alone a DE at all, let alone an X server ) shows that they weren't all left in "their stock configuration"
mikeplus64: Oh well.
FliPPeh_: Lame
FliPPeh_: Comparing distros should be done in a fair environment
FliPPeh_: Otherwise arch will always lose in stock configuration unless it's about customizabilty or speed and memory usage
mikeplus64: It's not really possible to compare "stock Arch" because there really isn't such a thing other than the live CDs and such.
FliPPeh_: Well
FliPPeh_: "Stock" probably refers to the immediate post-installation state
mikeplus64: Post-installation in Arch is typically just a tty, no X server or whatever.
FliPPeh_: Yup.
FliPPeh_: That's my only
FliPPeh_: Sure-fire lose
FliPPeh_: s/only/point
mikeplus64: May as well benchmark stock LFS
mikeplus64: <.>.<.>
FliPPeh_: Gah, I have a microcontroller board, wires, LEDs, resistors, light, temperature and magnetic sensors, but no idea what fun stuff I could do!
