darthanubis: ailed URL: http://voxel.dl.sourceforge.net/project/libpng/00-libpng-stable/1.2.39/libpng-1.2.39.tar.gz
darthanubis: That url is incorrect. Is there a way to correct the urls from which the test suite is attempting to download from? Or can I manually download the file and put it where the suite will find it?
darthanubis: ubuntu 64bit PTS 2.22 stable
darthanubis: nvm
TheFunkbomb: Good morning
TheFunkbomb: Hello
TheFunkbomb: So, I have a quick question. Crossfire in Linux... worth it?
TheFunkbomb: hmmm
TheFunkbomb: not a well used channel I see
Ivanovic: TheFunkbomb: there is basically no real gpu bound native game
Ivanovic: so a clear case of "NO!"
TheFunkbomb: very well, that may save me some money
Ivanovic: i can easily play etqw in 1920x1200 with anti aliasing, anisotropic filtering and whatnot on max details with my hd3850
TheFunkbomb: See, the problem with linux is its greatest strength. It's always changing
TheFunkbomb: It can be hard to keep up
TheFunkbomb: Even a write up from 8 months ago could be seriously outdated
Ivanovic: that is: if you are into gaming with wine things might be different
Ivanovic: and IIRC the open source drivers don't support crossfire (yet) either
TheFunkbomb: nah, I'm more into 3d rendering and stuff
TheFunkbomb: gimp too
TheFunkbomb: now the next issue ATi vs nVidia
TheFunkbomb: I mean a 5870 is way cheaper than a GTX 280
Ivanovic: personally i'd say that the ati cards are way better due to the open source driver support
TheFunkbomb: err 4870
TheFunkbomb: yes, I'm thinking about it
Ivanovic: but i am not into 3D too heavily, so i am fine with the current drivers that offer rock solid 2d with (tear free) video stuff (video decoding itself *not* accelerated, all done by cpu)
Belial`: ati's proprietary drivers suck.
Belial`: on linux and windows.
Belial`: and if you're in the market for the best bang for you buck
Belial`: try out a radeonhd 4850
Belial`: $100
TheFunkbomb: I always am :)
TheFunkbomb: oooh
Belial`: it whips up on the geforce 9800gt which is similarly priced.
TheFunkbomb: I'm banking on this new job coming through. And then I'll just go mad with computer stuff
TheFunkbomb: I'm rocking the 9600GT right now. It's not bad.
Belial`: i haven't done much gaming on linux, to tell you the truth.
Belial`: i have on windows.
TheFunkbomb: I don't really game all that much.
Belial`: there's really not much of a selection for native 3d shooters
Belial`: and the ones that are there, that 9600gt should handle them fine
TheFunkbomb: yeah but a better video card might help me render in blender a bit better
aliendude3500: It really sucks that you guys lost all that valuable graphics card benchmarking data, but I doubt it's directly the fault of ext4... I've been using it extensively on 5 different systems here, and I haven't had an entire directory disappear before.
