cxo: why is it such a bitch to get pts gui working on ubuntu?
cxo: there is no php-gtk :)
GNU\colossus: anyone in here with an Intel G2 "Postville" SSD, running a recent Linux kernel and hdparm?
wao: no
wao: well, which ssd will you reccomend me to put in the macbook?
wao: *cheap* and alright
wao: which one is better technology, mlc?
GNU\colossus: wao: SLC is better than MLC; though you won't find one of those (that doesn't suck) in the "cheap" section of the market
wao: what's the difference between them?
maligor: MLC is cheaper, SLC is just.. better
maligor: it stores more data per cell
maligor: MLC does that is
wao: does that is? (stores more data per cell?)
maligor: MLC stores more data per cell
maligor: SLC is fater and more reliable
maligor: err.. faster
wao: reliable -=> cheaper?
wao: ah, but at mlc will be my data safe
maligor: reliability isn't really what you think tho
maligor: a proper flash death means you can't write to the damaged cells anymore
maligor: but they should retrain the data
maligor: quite a lot depends really on the controller
