Kano: michaellarabel: did you try this: http://www.fit-pc2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=1150
Kano: there is even mplayer-vaapi packaged, not that i would need that...
Kano: michaellarabel: do you really want to be the only one that could use git on pts?
Kano: checking phoronix-test-suite.diff:
Kano: 25 files changed, 60 insertions(+), 29 deletions(-)
Kano: missing files: 9
michaellarabel: Kano: Finally here. I don't see what your Git cloning problems are... one second, run the command in a minute.
Kano: voip-6line-twinkle and firegl_public-patches are completely broken too with
Kano: warning: remote HEAD refers to nonexistent ref, unable to checkout.
Kano: files for voip are in the tar however
Kano: you should try my test script, it compares automatically tar.gz + git
michaellarabel: now does it work for you?
Kano: needs about 2 min to check all
Kano: cloning: firegl_public-patches
Kano: warning: remote HEAD refers to nonexistent ref, unable to checkout.
Kano: empty but broken
Kano: http://kanotix.com/files/fix/pts/prove-that-phorogit-is-unusable.sh
Kano: best run it with time
Kano: ok, no error expect the firegl
Kano: i guess you fixed both manually
Kano: but as soon as somebody commits something it is broken again
Kano: i guess you should delete the fglrx patches repo, it is nothing in there anyway
Kano: next time you commit something try the script again
Kano: now it needs 2:48 min most likely due to voip extra 48s.. really slow
Kano: why dont you use something better like cgit?
Kano: online it is completely useless
Kano: 6 commits, no branches
Kano: no others web frontend has those restrictions
Kano: the import from firefox 3.5 to chrome is really bad. no rss bookmarks supported
guest720: Kano: any news on the geforce gt220?
Kano: i patched my kernel
Kano: i have got support for the audio devices on every new 10.1 card
Kano: just not for suse ;)
Kano: kanotix excalibur + extra installed 2.6.32 kernel will show the device
Kano: even with the mobile devices of course
Kano: i didnt build a .32 iso yet, but after install update is very easy
guest720: so gt220, g210 and their mobile flavors all work
Kano: well the device is there
Kano: nobody has got a tv
Kano: with hdmi
guest720: and what if i dont update the kernel? will the patch you sent me the other day work?
Kano: http://kanotix.com/files/kernel/unused-patches/2.6.32-gt220-hdmi.patch
Kano: thats the patch for .32
Kano: a bit differnt
Kano: 8ch forced
guest720: and if i stay with .31?
Kano: did not try to patch .31 yet
guest720: and if i dont patch the kernel? it wont show up?
Kano: no
guest720: then this is useless? http://www.vdrportal.de/board/thread.php?postid=853558
Kano: thats the same patch, just for another kernel
Kano: it looks like that the .32 patch will apply to .31 too
guest720: im sorry to ask so much but, what happens if i update the kernel? besides having a newer kernel
guest720: :)
Kano: ?
Kano: every kanotix kernel is patched until it is mainline
Kano: i am just unsure about the comment
Kano: GT220 HDMI is maybe not the best
guest720: i mean, which are the consequences of updating the kernel?
Kano: then i would send to a suse dev, thats usally the fastest way to get it mainline
guest720: all the other apps work?
Kano: usually
Kano: nfs needs a tiny hack in the init script
guest720: so your patch is only for kanotix distro currently
Kano: no, its a kernel patch use it with any distro. you need to compile your kernel on your own then
Kano: you can be sure i do not provide precompiled rpm for suse
guest720: you use kanotix right?
Kano: of course, because i create it ;)
guest720: youre the lead dev?
Kano: well there is one dev for the installer and me
guest720: thats so cool
guest720: you said this patch should work for .31 right?
Kano: therefore i reuse the ubuntu kernel optimized a bit with bfs and some other small patches
Kano: .31 looks very similar yes
guest720: and you also said this one is forced to 8 ch
Kano: look at the other link
guest720: i use only stereo, would that affect me?
Kano: you can try 8ch if it does not work correcty use 2ch in that patch
guest720: http://www.vdrportal.de/board/thread.php?postid=853558 this one?
Kano: older kernels didn't have got a 2ch/8ch selection in the file as you see there
Kano: well the one posted there did not know about git diff therefore it looks a bit weird
guest720: i got confused
Kano: { .id = 0x10de0be2, .name = "MCP00 HDMI", .patch = patch_nvhdmi },
Kano: thats the only diff
guest720: and in yours?
Kano: there you read patch_nvhdmi not patch_nvhdmi_8ch
Kano: but that line depends on the kernel used
guest720: so i should write _2ch
Kano: try 8
Kano: do you have got the card yet
guest720: no :) just ordered
Kano: if you are interested you can join #kanotix
Kano: lots of nice extra scripts available
Kano: like a script to compile latest mplayer svn, git with mt support or with vaapi
Kano: of course a fully automated script to install nvidia, fglrx
Kano: i even have got a local script to test vlc with vaapi support
Kano: requirement is basically the vaapi mplayer script for the globally installed vaapi dev files
Kano: michaellarabel: you can manually fix your get again
Kano: checking phoronix-test-suite.diff:
Kano: 4 files changed, 15 insertions(+), 7 deletions(-)
Kano: if you dont want to change that soon..
Kano: bye
