blm: is it possible that PTS 2.0 has a bug regarding the RAMspeed test that is looping too often?
blm: after i got up from bed i expected the tests to be finished but there is "RAMspeed (Run 1 of 1)" on the screen multiple times
bkero: Is your ram stable?
blm: i am not sure, you think its re-running the tests due to RAM errors?
bkero: Or the test never completes
bkero: memtest86
blm: all runs show the test result at the end
blm: and the value is always ~ 207MB/s
blm: but yeah, i think i will invest the time to run memtest86
bkero: http://pastebin.osuosl.org/29420 $199 Ion media centre :)
blm: hey, whats the command line trick again to end a batch-run after the current test is completed so it keeps the results of tests that passed already?
Kano: hi, did anybody load that opencl ati driver
maligor: looks like amd pulled their beta drivers from the devel site
Kano: they have got fear
Kano: can you give me the links for the 32/64 single files
maligor: http://download2-developer.amd.com/amd/Stream20Beta/ati-opencl-beta-driver-v2.0-beta4-lnx.zip
maligor: if you mean that
Kano: hmm must be pw protected
Kano: stupid
maligor: how s?
maligor: err.. so
maligor: it allows me to download it from that
Kano: as you are logged in
maligor: but it's possible it's the isp webproxy
Kano: not with wget
maligor: with wget
Kano: well that file was removed
Kano: the single files work
maligor: 'single files'?
maligor: you mean the opencl sdk's?
Kano: replace the filename by
maligor: since that's the driver
Kano: ati-stream-sdk-v2.0-beta4-lnx32.tgz or ati-stream-sdk-v2.0-beta4-lnx64.tgz
maligor: yeah, that's the sdk
maligor: I thought you meant the driver
Kano: hmm the sdk does work without the driver?
maligor: for cp
maligor: err.. cpu
maligor: the gpu needs the calcl driver in the 9.11 set
Kano: well thats not really the purpose
Kano: did they forget the signature file in the drive?
maligor: it's a testing driver
maligor: oh.. no, it's missing
Kano: well i posted the needed echo
maligor: or so they indicated on the forum, I haven't actually installed it yet
Kano: ati thinks using the same signature check for testing drivers is a challenge
Kano: it is kinda boring if you know how it works
maligor: it's probably just some sort of requirement
maligor: not a countermeasure
maligor: if the user has to actively go around it, it's clearly going through
Kano: but i think they "forgot" the signature in that driver
Kano: as they did for some other releases before
maligor: I could check
Kano: signature="" is for test drivers
Kano: they use a new signature for every driver, but you can just backup a /etc/ati/signature file and reuse it always
maligor: it's UNSIGNED
Kano: maligor: is it fast enough?
maligor: what? opencl?
Kano: yes
maligor: dunno
maligor: I only have a 3870
senad: hi all
Kano: no 5870
dmb__: hey, how important is it to look up amperage on your PSU when buying a video card?
dmb__: i'm looking at getting one of those shiny new Radeon HD 8770's
dmb__: but i'm concerned that amperage on the 12v rail won't be enough
dmb__: should i be concerned?
dmb__: there is only one 6pin pci express connector with my PSU
Kano: michaellarabel: do you know image-writer (from moblin)?
