Phoronix IRC Log: 2009-09-29
luther: hey guys I was wondering if anyone knew of any updates/news on the drivers for the ATI Radeon Mobility 3650 card? I am using one with gentoo and its giving me major headaches...I got a measly 141FPS on glxgears yesterday and after unmasking and installing some packages I got a 501FPS (still not good) and video playback is horrendous. Anyone got any advice?
evocallaghan: luther, wasting your time here, best ask in #ati or #radeon
evocallaghan: runs back off to #auroraux
Kano: hi redeeman
Kano: redeeman: just found out that gigabyte had a new bios update for my g33 board, now i could disable the bios backup on hd
Kano: pretty long time from 2007 to 2009...
dib: trolls!
cr3: when running a phoronix test suite, if I enter a unique name for a test run like '1aiehfa323aejnf', it seems that that name is not stored anywhere for future reference :(
Kano: cr3: you could show the results
cr3: Kano: the directory .phoronix-test-suite/test-results/$name/ contains test-1.xml (and composite.xml), which has no sign of that test run string
cr3: Kano: grep -r 1aiehfa323aejnf ~/.phoronix-test-suite returns nothing
Kano: open it
cr3: Kano: http://pastebin.com/d56367b71
cr3: Kano: I think there might be a misunderstanding on the purpose of this unique name, in that it might just be used as an increment identifier by default and can be used to override an identifier previously assigned by the system
cr3: Kano: in my above example, I think I could specify "1" as a unique name and it would overwrite my previous results. however, I don't think I can specify my own unique identifier
Kano: cr3: i use batch mode that always use a generated label
cr3: Kano: I also happen to use batch mode (batch-benchmark), and it always prompts for the unique name
Kano: cr3: change your settings
Kano:
FALSE
Kano:
FALSE
Kano:
FALSE
Kano: in .phoronix-test-suite/user-config.xml
cr3: Kano: well, I want to be able to specify the test identifer so that I know which test was run by my script
Kano: you see that anyway in the results
cr3: Kano: is there a bug tracker so that I can report this problem that the identifier seems to be ignored?
cr3: Kano: nope, as I pasted above, my identifer never appears in the results
cr3: there is only phoronix's internal and autoincremented identifier, mine is nowhere
Kano: use the forum, it is not my tool anyway, i use it and fix some bugs, but i dont have got your error
cr3: Kano: cool, I'll use the forums. thanks :)
cr3: what does "run all test options" do? what are test options?
Ivanovic: uhm, is mesa 7.6.1 already out?!?
cr3: anyone happen to know which phoronix test profile might be quick to run?
Kano: compress-7zip is fast
cr3: Kano: oddly, I'm running compress-7zip which has the profile
3, and yet it ran 6 times
Kano: cr3: dont know
