Phoronix IRC Log: 2009-05-14

marsje: anyone here had any luck connecting a ATI Radeon HD3450 to both a VGA-screen and a TV-out (S-video, PAL) using lets say Ubuntu 9.04?
maligor: marsje, I doubt it supports it
maligor: usually the consumer parts are limited to 2 outputs
marsje: maligor: vga + tv-out = 2, right?
marsje: maligor: actually, I just need tv-out, but as long as that is not working, I like to bee able to use a vga screen besodesit
marsje: besides it
maligor: oh.. I thought you meant 2 vga + tv
maligor: is there a issue with it?
maligor: you can use xrandr to enable it
maligor: or specify it in the config
marsje: maligor: I new to this, but so far it's not working... I wanted to configure it in my xorg.conf
marsje: maligor: but when I include the setting to turn on tv-out, I will get no picture at all (on both screens)
maligor: I've only used the xrandr interface
marsje: maligor: how would you do it with xrandr?
maligor: mm.. xrandr --output TV --left-of VGA-0
maligor: you need to check the output names
GNU\colossus: does AMD-V Pacifica on K8 work with nvidia chipsets?
redeeman: anyone that can recommend a motherboard with 8 sata ports?
GNU\colossus: aren't 6 + port replication enough for you? :)
maligor: or get a adaptec sas
maligor: http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon3000/X58/X8STi-3F.cfm <- 8 ports :P
redeeman: i don't need a fast system
maligor: use a port multiplier then
redeeman: can those really be trusted?
maligor: mm?
marsje: in general it sucks to find a motherboard based on requirements... all suppliers have dozens of mobos with names such as M4A78-EM, but they do not provide an easy to find the mobo that you need
GNU\colossus: does AMD-V Pacifica on K8 work in conjunction with nvidia chipsets?
bkero: Sure
Deanjo: Yup no issues
bexamous: I'm trying to run PTS on an older system, RHEL4.6 I think, jxrendermark fails to run
michaellarabel: bexamous: Probably missing some build dependencies
bexamous: Is it supposed to require xrender 0.9.x? This system only has 0.8.4
michaellarabel: I don't know offhand, you can try oler version
michaellarabel: hmm, it's less than a month until Phoronix turns five years old.
