ognirc: nn everyone
Empaligon: o/
rainbyte: hi
mervaka: mm
Kano: Deanjo: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=131874
Kano: did you see that
Kano: Fixed stability problems with some GeForce 6200/7200/7300 GPUs on multi-core/SMP systems.
Deanjo: Na, nvidia never fixes shit Kano
Deanjo: Death to opensource you will be :P
mervaka: hah
mervaka: nvidia are a godsend compared to audio hardware manufacturers
mervaka: who tell you they arent interested, then politely tell you to fuck off
Deanjo: Oh I don't know about that. M-audio has a pretty good rep
mervaka: does it?
mervaka: because i have an FW1814
mervaka: and i got little/no response
Deanjo: Ya, one of the best supported cards in alsa.
mervaka: i already knew it didnt support it
mervaka: but i asked if they could
mervaka: as its one of their better sound devices
mervaka: got told to gtfo
Deanjo: When I had my Delta 1010 and the Revo they were fine
mervaka: hmm
Deanjo: Bad rep maybe?
mervaka: the delta's older, and PCI
mervaka: they dont want to let FW devices near linux for some reason
mervaka: and thats not just maudio
Deanjo: Well FW devices in general don't work so well in linux
mervaka: lots of them are hesitant to
mervaka: hmm
Deanjo: (unless you consider harddrives)
mervaka: i dont see why it presents such a barrier
mervaka: especially considering they know their own hardware inside and out unlike the FFADO devs
Deanjo: Just not a largely developed part of linux
mervaka: chicken and egg?
mervaka: what comes first? supply or demand?
Deanjo: Ya and of course biasness to it being an evil apple invention, etc etc etc
Deanjo: At this point I thing FW development is winding down. More and more devices are switching to USB or esata
mervaka: well
mervaka: i think my next device will be PCIe
Deanjo: Parallel port powered :P
Deanjo: I've been pretty happy with my Auzentech X-Meridian
