Phoronix IRC Log: 2009-04-20
whilo: hi
whilo: the cpu and graphics benchmarks on phoronix are very nice
whilo: but what about memory usage tests
whilo: loading kde4 on different distros gives very different memory usages, between 130-400 mb with free (-buffers and caches)
whilo: but in general exmap is supposed to be used
whilo: but then benchmark memory usage is not an easy task on linux
whilo: so it would be really great to see sth. like phoronix with a professional attitude to do some testing and helping to point out where problems are
whilo: what do you think?
whilo: this seems somehow a rather underestimated performance issue... you can rarely find well done memory usage benchmarks for linux apps/systems
Plouj: if you guys missed this yesterday: http://www.jbkempf.com/blog/post/2009/04/19/Decoding-video-in-VLC-using-VAAPI-and-nVidia
whilo: who is michael larabel?
Ivanovic: he is someone currently not online
whilo: Ivanovic: what is his nick?
Ivanovic: michaellarabel
whilo: Ivanovic: thx
EruditeHermit: hi, anyone here on Fedora 10 and installed fglrx?
