porjo: Anyone got latest proprietary ATI drivers working with Ubuntu 9.04 beta ?
porjo: I'm getting "Error: ./default_policy.sh does not support version" error when I run the installer
superdump: hey guys, i'm ordering an i7 machine today
superdump: i'm looking at motherboards
superdump: the gigabyte ex58-ud3r and the msi x58 pro specifically
superdump: does anyone have any recommendations or pointers for things i should check on either of these boards that are not yet compatible with linux that will significantly hinder my usage?
superdump: looks at michaellarabel
superdump: :)
michaellarabel: superdump: As long as you use a new distro and upgrade the BIOS, it should work fine on most mobos.
superdump: ok, cool
superdump: i'll check the specs, but i'm leaning toward the MSI at the moment because it has 6 ram slots and the ud3r only has 4
ziroday: superdump: also take a look at the audio cards on them if you're not going to use an external one, in my experience they can be troublesome particularly with the rise of pulseaudio
superdump: they're all realtek alc 888* or 889*
ziroday: realtek is usually fine in my experience
superdump: ordered :d
superdump: :D*
