rainbyte: hi
gords: hi! can anyone please tell me if this audio hardware is a full-duplex or not. Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] AC'97 Sound Controller
ech0s7: hi
ech0s7: anyone have tried catalyst 9.2 on linux at 64bit ?
raevol: ech0s7: is that the current one in ubuntu?
ech0s7: raevol: i don't think
raevol: :[ then no, not here at least
ech0s7: because they are went out yesterday
raevol: haha i see
Ivanovic: michaellarabel: could you maybe make a new benchmark series of latest version of the r6xx/r7xx compared to catalyst 9.2 2d performance?
michaellarabel: Ivanovic: When I have the time
Ivanovic: if possible i would welcome a slower cpu since i have the bad feeling that the fast cpu was the reason for some of the extrodinary good results...
Ivanovic: ;
Ivanovic: )
``sol: lol

Skeleton_Eel: hi all : )
Skeleton_Eel: how i can install gui of phoronix test suite , and test it ? : )
Milyardo: michaellarabel: You there?
michaellarabel: Milyardo: Yes
Milyardo: I have a company that distrubites a Linux version of thier software, I recently sent them an email saying they should create a Debian ackage for their product
Milyardo: but it seems they have no idea what Debian Package is? o.O
Milyardo: How should I go about eplaining it to them, and give them reasons to make one?
Milyardo: *explaining
Milyardo: michaellarabel: In your 2008 Linux Grphics Survey you ask how users prefer to install thier Video Drivers, do you know of another survey that ask how users prefer how to install software in general?
michaellarabel: Milyardo: No I don't know of any other survey like that
Skeleton_Eel: what's usage of "Batch Run Options" ? : )
michaellarabel: Skeleton_Eel: Batch run options are mostly used by companies or those needing tests for professional purposes
Skeleton_Eel: michaellarabel: aha : )
Skeleton_Eel: thank u very much : )
Deanjo: michaellarabel, what is it with the ad at the lead post now with the forums?
Deanjo: I've never used an ad block before, but this is getting a little much http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c316/deanjo/?action=view¤t=getting_too_much.jpg
redeeman: why don't you use adblock?
redeeman: lol that's nothing really
redeeman: lots of sites are far worse
Deanjo: No I don't use adblock because I think they deserve to get some ad revenue, but there comes a point where it gets to be too much
Deanjo: Personally all the sites I have ran in the past never had to resort to ads, they survived off donations easily but they were not exactly legal in all parts of the world
Milyardo: I agree with Deanjo, I also do not use Deanjo
Milyardo: *adBlock
Milyardo: >.>
Deanjo: I don't mind a header and footer ad but putting ads into the forum posts is too much IMHO
Milyardo: So theres a new ATi driver out, why isn't everyone lamenting its failures?
Azerthoth: something about a whip and a dead horse comes to mind
Deanjo: Same reason why people stopped complaining about UT3
Deanjo: Noticed there was some nice Cuda video encoding stuff at doom9 on the win side of things
Deanjo: Even CoreAVC went Cuda
Milyardo: Well, I'm sending in my DOA 4830 to an RMA monday, so next week I'll be able to complain like its omsething new
Milyardo: *for an RMA
Deanjo: Milyardo, I think you should go for a Chome card :P
Deanjo: Chrome
Milyardo: lol
Deanjo: Say what people will but could you imaging how far back linux would be if NV didn't start giving a actual working driver for lin?
Milyardo: So Deanjo, I've got this company that ships a linux version of their software, I emailed them asking if they could make a debian package, or if I could make one myself
Milyardo: but apprently they don't know what a Debian package is o.o
Deanjo: heh, sounds like VIA
Deanjo: "We support linux!!!" "RPM, DEB, WTF?"
Milyardo: Lol
Deanjo: linux-drivers.msi
Milyardo: How do you think I should go about explaining to them why they should make a debian package, and seek inclusion in the Debian repos?
Deanjo: was so bored today he started cracking badaboom's exe for something to do
Milyardo: or at least maintain their own
Milyardo: I've cited Toribash, and World of Goo as other examples of games that distribute deb packages
Milyardo: for their own repos
Milyardo: *from
Milyardo: Have any other examples?
Deanjo: What linux needs is a title like Project Offset debuting 3 months ahead on linux
Milyardo: haha
Deanjo: I doubt there will even be a linux version now that intel bought them out
Milyardo: Why is that?
Deanjo: Intel is going to use it for a tech demo for their new graphics core
Deanjo: nothing more nothing less
Milyardo: I don't see Intel buying into "Lets write a game with XNA because we're cool!!!"
Deanjo: Na it's going to be a larabee demo
Milyardo: I'd see that as a reason for them to make a Linux Version
Deanjo: I get really bad vibes from intel, they are single handedly trying to take over alot of foss projects
Deanjo: *cough* X *cough*
Milyardo: I don't think Intel Plans on larabee breaking into the comodity graphics card market at first
Deanjo: It's not out of intel to push projects in their favor. IE "Vista ready" with the old intel graphics chips
Milyardo: I see them as going for the high end GPGPU market, and that means alots of Linux users
Deanjo: Na, from the news that I got Larabee has to be scaled 3 to 4 times larger then expected to meet the performance of current GPGPU solutions
Deanjo: (there is a reason why Apple dumped intel solutions for 10.5)
redeeman: theres also a reason why apple is the most incompetent morons, making the worst products ever
Deanjo: Highest customer satisfaction for 10 years straight
Milyardo: I wouldn't say Worst
redeeman: Deanjo: as if that actually tells anything about quality
Deanjo: redeeman, I'm not getting into your trolling tonight, I've got real data, your got speculation and a chip
Azerthoth: ouch, redeeman just got voted off the island
redeeman: what you have got, is data telling the satisfaction of a bunch of mindless morons, which quite frankly, would be satisfied if someone slapped them hard with a harry potter broomstick
redeeman: and i don't doubt that data
redeeman: im just letting you know how worthless it is
redeeman: about as worthless as an ant with diarrher
redeeman: diarrhea*
Deanjo: Dude you can keep chirping all you want, I know the real score and I know someone that has not all the facts (or refuses to face them)
Azerthoth: I am in awe of the Gentoo folks sometimes, someone think that Gentoo would be a peachy first ever linux, cant bother with reading the install docs, and then want to have their hands held through the whole process
Azerthoth: and the #gentoo folks seldom loose their cool
redeeman: Deanjo: you obviously don't know all you claim to - but that figures, you worked for them
Azerthoth: theres a thin reed to judge a man against
Deanjo: redeeman, ya I worked for them, I've worked for a lot of others too, I just see the whole picture instead of a tainted media 3rd party view
Deanjo: it's real easy to judge from the outside when you have no inside perspective
redeeman: i judge them from all their public actions
