Kano: michaellarabel: did you see this: http://www.hyperspace.com/HyperSpace/Download/Download.aspx
Kano: michaellarabel: hyper space download for systems with onboard intel gfx
Kano: i just ordered a new g31 board. maybe i try it
Kano: michaellarabel: did you ever bench g33 vs g31?
BlueKoala: Any word on the new FGLRX driver?
Kano: BlueKoala: ah, is it out now
BlueKoala: Kano: Not afaik
Kano: i see still 8-12
BlueKoala: :(
BlueKoala: I find it strange how I get over 50FPS in doom3 but it still seems choppy
Kano: BlueKoala: there are only 2 beta versions
BlueKoala: ATI and BETA just seems like a very unhealthy combination
Kano: well 50fps with which card?
BlueKoala: 4850
Kano: res?
BlueKoala: 1600*1200
BlueKoala: It does it even at lower res and without filtering
BlueKoala: I get the impression that it's slightly choppy to prevent tearing
Kano: you get 50fps inside gameplay or timedemo
BlueKoala: Gameplay
Kano: because doom3 is restricted to 60 fps i think in gameplay max
BlueKoala: I never see it below 40
Kano: well it can not go over 60 too
BlueKoala: yar
BlueKoala: There may be a console command
Kano: game limits it
BlueKoala: I remember CS 1.6 had a maxfps of 70 or so
Kano: nope not for this game, for others
BlueKoala: That could be changed
BlueKoala: What about Q4?
Kano: i dont think because it would be unfair in multiplayer mode
Kano: q4 has the same engine
BlueKoala: I haven't installed it yet on that machine
BlueKoala: Unfair in multiplayer?
BlueKoala: I don't see the link
Kano: which link?
Kano: when somebody has extra fast pc he would be see others faster
BlueKoala: Between maxfps and multiplayer fairness
maligor: maybe it links network frames to fps
BlueKoala: I see
BlueKoala: So the higher the fps, the higher the network frames
BlueKoala: Sort of like a speed hack?
maligor: more like resource hogging
BlueKoala: Ahh
BlueKoala: I found something here
BlueKoala: seta r_displayRefresh "100"
BlueKoala: I'll try this and see what happens =x
Kano: try benchmark, that has no restriction
BlueKoala: The cap limit change only works in the menu
BlueKoala: 200fps
BlueKoala: 1-3 fps for the loading screen
BlueKoala: 50-70fps during gameplay
BlueKoala: 100.8fps
BlueKoala: demo1.demo
BlueKoala: Wow
BlueKoala: The card is pretty powerful
BlueKoala: Too bad I can't make it look smooth ;)
BlueKoala: 1600x1200 max filtering, ultra quality
BlueKoala: Phenom 9500
BlueKoala: Hmmm
BlueKoala: I don't want to install windows
BlueKoala: But I do want to play Civ4
BlueKoala: This world needs more Mark Shuttleworth's
Kano: michaellarabel: btw. the hd detection is funny...
Kano: michaellarabel: i have got 4 hds in the system, 3 in a raid + one extra for linux, but of course you detect the wrong one for / ;)
Kano: ups, it is the right for /, but what about the 3 others
Kano: should it be the one for / or all?
michaellarabel: Right now there is no RAID detection support
Kano: michaellarabel: btw. what wrong with a name for the test like the test name?
Kano: thats not accepted
michaellarabel: right, becuase since you can specify the name as an argument, you're inhibiting yourself from ever being able to run that same test
Kano: The name of the saved file cannot be the same as a test/suite: etqw-demo
michaellarabel: right
Kano: ok
Kano: i thought you had an auto res mode? but for ut2004-demo higher mode are shown than possible
michaellarabel: Kano: For ut2004-demo only there is no auto res mode, since ut2004 requires separate INI files
monreal: can anyone recommend a sound card with good alsa drivers? I don't need anything fancy but the basic stuff should work correctly :)
