redeeman: omfg
redeeman: now D945GCLF2 is available and i haven't even tried my D945GCLF yet
mha-: heh.
dante_2core: quit afk
jonfish: Hey anyone around?
michaellarabel: Hi
avkn: hi guys. i've just begun using PTS, and as i use it, "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" is printed from time to time. what does that mean?
avkn: it happens even when i'm just listing the tests (and it causes a bit of a hang after i enter the command and before the results show).
michaellarabel: avkn: What OS and PHP are you using?
avkn: Ubuntu 7.10, i have a package called php5-cli so I guess it's PHP5.
avkn: well, of course it's php5.
michaellarabel: What is the output of: phoronix-test-suite system-info
avkn: jazz@desktoppc:~$ phoronix-test-suite system-info
avkn: Segmentation fault (core dumped)
avkn: ====================================
avkn: Phoronix Test Suite v1.2.2 (MALVIK)
avkn: System Information
avkn: ====================================
avkn: Segmentation fault (core dumped)
avkn: Hardware:
avkn: Processor: AMD Sempron 2800+ @ 1.60GHz (Total Cores: 1), Motherboard: 6.00 PG, Chipset: VIA K8M800 Host Bridge, System Memory: 233MB, Disk Space: 11GB, Graphics: VIA S3 Unichrome Pro VGA Adapter, Screen Resolution: 1024x768
avkn: Segmentation fault (core dumped)
avkn: Software:
avkn: OS: Ubuntu 7.10, Kernel: 2.6.22-15-generic (i686), X.Org Server: 1.3.0, OpenGL: 1.2 Mesa 7.0.1 (via), Compiler: GCC 4.1.3, File-System: ext2/ext3
avkn:
avkn: oops. sorry.
GNU\colossus: PTS depends on PHP?
michaellarabel: colossus: Yes
avkn: it's the only dependency, right? that's what the PTS site emphasizes.
michaellarabel: avkn: When you type glxinfo do you get a segmentation fault?
avkn: yeah.
michaellarabel: avkn: Yes, it and the GD library are the only main dependencies. (Though in 1.4.0 Alpha 2+ there is an experimental SVG renderer)
michaellarabel: Okay, that's what's causing the seg fault is glxinfo
avkn: michael: ok, thanks a lot. so it's my obscure VIA IGP again.
michaellarabel: Yeah
michaellarabel: What version of PTS are you using?
avkn: 1.2.2
michaellarabel: ok
avkn: by the way, have they fixed the 2D problems with the GeForce 8 series yet?
michaellarabel: avkn: Largely, yes. However, in some situations they still have 2D issues.
avkn: such as? i have a laptop with an 8400M G, and i'm planning to install Fedora 10 in it when it comes out. i'm thinking of whether to leave it to using the nv driver or use the closed-source one from nvidia.
michaellarabel: With KDE 4 I believe is where most of the problems still are
avkn: oh. i'm a gnome user so no problem there, hopefully.
avkn: what are those 170-series driver betas nvidia is releasing?
michaellarabel: Those are the ones with a lot of fixes and such.
avkn: how are those related to the current drivers? is the upcoming 180 driver something like a major driver overhaul?
michaellarabel: The 180 driver is a major overhaul.
avkn: and it's coming before the end of the year, hopefully, right?
michaellarabel: Yes
avkn: interesting.
cxo: ...despise the use of AdBlock huh? That's really something
redeeman: lol
cxo: smells a hypocrite
redeeman: would smell a moron if it werent for the fortunate distance at which the internet allows communication
michaellarabel: cxo: I don't use AdBlock at all
Milyardo: What's cxo's problem?
michaellarabel: ?
Milyardo: He just seems hostile about the whole ad block thing
michaellarabel: Yeah :(
