Roberth: michaellarabel: hello
michaellarabel: Hi
Roberth: michaellarabel: is it safe to let nvidia-settings edit my xorg configuration?
michaellarabel: yes
michaellarabel: Well, permitting you have a NVIDIA card :)
Roberth: :P
Roberth: great to have a nvidia card again, tired of xv tearing
Roberth: how do I specify DPI in the xorg configuration?
michaellarabel: For NVIDIA you need to set UseEdidDpi to false and then use DPI. There may be an option for it in nvidia-settings or nvidia-xconfig
Roberth: michaellarabel: done, how do I set dpi?
michaellarabel: With the DPI option the value IIRC is set in the format of say "96 x 96"
Roberth: how do I put that into xorg.conf?
michaellarabel: Option "DPI" "96 x 96" into the device section
michaellarabel: err monitor section
Roberth: is Option "PixmapCacheSize" "1000000" and Option "AllowSHMPixmaps" "0" going into the monitor section?
abe901: hello
rapunzel_: hi
rapunzel_: was geht
Milyardo: no matter what I do I can't seem to set 1280x1024 as one of my resolutions :(
Milyardo: Or to be more correct, I can't get GDM to start in 1280x1024
Milyardo: But I can use nvidia-settings to change to 1280x1024 after logging in
Milyardo: so if I use nvidia-xconfig --mode-list=1280x1024, GDM starts in 1024x768 :(
Milyardo: Also interestingly, nvidia-settings and nvidia-xconfig generate two different xorg.conf outputs
Milyardo: nvidia-xconfig --mode-list=1280x1024 adds the Modes "1260x1024" line to the Display subsection of Screen
Milyardo: while nvidia-settings adds the line:
Milyardo: Option "metamodes" "1280x1024 +0+0; nvidia-auto-select +0+0"
Milyardo: So the Screen Section :(
Milyardo: *to
