Ivanovic: moin
redeeman: lo
Kano: hi Deanjo , did you find an option to show normal hdparm results?
Deanjo: No Kano, I didn't bother, because despite what you think, getting the same results across multiple OS's, on multiple boards, on multiple chipsets, with multiple tests (hdparm, sisoft, hdtach) I'll believe believe the results are correct.
Kano: Deanjo: you can be sure they are incorrect
Deanjo: I can be sure that they are correct.
Kano: nope, your hd was never that fast
Kano: impossible
Deanjo: believe what you want
Kano: i know, i dont believe
Kano: ubuntu must be really unstable, or lightrush ;)
lightrush: nah
lightrush: I am trying to make Xinerama work the way I want
Kano: haha
Kano: maybe use weechat in screen ;)
lightrush: ok NVIDIA's xinerama extension sux
lightrush: as soon as I turned regular one on - everything worx as expected
lightrush: any idea why Alt-tab refuses to work ?
khaije1: lightrush: if u use compiz u should check the config
khaije1: anyone know how opensync shakes out, or relates to conduit? that might be an interesting article comparing synchronization options and such
lightrush: I use metacity + xinerama and alt-tab does nothing
lightrush: other combos with Alt work
khaije1: not sure, does metacity have a hotkey config option?
lightrush: only u can change the key to move windows
lightrush: its weird - once xinerama is off - everything is back to normal
lightrush: it is not mapping
khaije1: i'm not rly familiar w/ xinerama, is that analogous to compiz?
Kano: michaellarabel: do you want to know, when splashtop is a REAL security hole?
mha: when you use it to extract your precious crypto keys from RAM after a reboot
Kano: as long it is running you can access the drives via a running http server at port 1080!!!!!
Kano: very nice without a router
mha: what does a router have to do with anything?
Kano: everybody can look at your data
Kano: with direct connection
mha: do you mean without a firewall/packet filter device?
mha: pretty much all computers on the internet are reached via routers
Kano: no
redeeman: he means people without NAT
mha: and your NAT-gw at home is not as a definition a router
mha: it's a NAT-gateway
mha: :)
redeeman: a router merely routes packages :)
Kano: you dont need a router for cable modems and splashtop has pppoe config tool too
Kano: you can access the usb stick and the drive where splashtop is installed
Kano: when you used the win installer
Kano: you can basically browse the whole partition
maligor: what's this turned to... a splashtop ad?
Kano: you can not access winhdd when booted from usb,but when you used the win installer
Kano: and thats a MAJOR security hole in what they call express gate lite
redeeman: hmm
Kano: not a small, a really huge one
Kano: at least you can access usb data
Kano: when you modded it try localhost:1080,or check from other pc
Kano: at least 1.2.3.1 has that problem
redeeman: :)
Kano: do you see what i mean
Kano: that was completely unmodded
redeeman: yeah i understand it perfectly
Kano: reinstalled without any of my mods
redeeman: all you need now is for it to automagically call to a webservice to log the url
redeeman: and asus to start leeching automagically :)
redeeman: that'd be so fun
Kano: i tested 1.2.8.0 in win first, there was no apache running, but at least 1.2.3.1 has it active
Kano: i guess i should add nmap ;)
Kano: well there are live cds with ssh running and known user/login
redeeman: that seems unwise
Kano: but when they market this thing as save variant to surf the web and so such major faults..
Ivanovic: hey, it is save
Ivanovic: asus will even check your comp for you!
Ivanovic: ;)
Kano: http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?p=42062
Kano: i would say thats worst case for splashtop ;)
Ivanovic: this is just the start of a great freature
Ivanovic: that is: it will allow the whole community to scan your system for malicious programs
michaellarabel: Kano, can you resend pic?
Ivanovic: a great step forwards in regards to security
DaskReecH: Hallo
DaskReecH: anyone can point me to some good articles on Cinema 2.0 and Fusion?
Kano: michaellarabel: with 1.2.8.0 i did not see a running apache at that port, but with 1.2.31
Kano: but will do portscan ;)
DaskReecH: gentooer: Which distro do you use?
DaskReecH: ^_^
michaellarabel: Kano, DeviceVM is investigating the hole
Kano: sure, then they could verifiy it ;)
michaellarabel: Yeah, had just communicated with them
Kano: in the meantime just boot one of your boards with it
Kano: michaellarabel: it is partly open on 1.2.8.0
Kano: when you know the filename
Kano: the server runs, just listing is blocked
Kano: redeeman: the problem is in 1.2.8.0 too, just without file listing
Kano: http//ip:1080/music.mp3
Kano: is always there ;)
Kano: well you could get the whole system registry too *g*
redeeman: :))
Kano: hopefully with some serials ;)
sabbath: hello all
Kano: hi sabbath
sabbath: hi Kano:) i just read ur topics, u did great job
Kano: yes, some problems are solved with 1.2.8.0 but basically the use of a webserver is not really a good idea. it is only used as picture viewer anyway
Kano: the pic viewer is just firefox pointing on a local url
Kano: 1.2.3.1 had upnp running too, but dont know what do to with that ;)
sabbath: yy okie but at first i have to dload some image of this OS :D
sabbath: anyone have link to that?
Kano: michaellarabel: i am looking forward to see the next splashtop blog entry ;)
DaskReecH: :-)
DaskReecH: I want to get a splashtop AMD Mobo :(
DaskReecH: finding it hard to locate one
Kano: you can run it with any new board, at least with many of em
Kano: just fetch splashtop from those boards as download
Kano: if you have it running in a virtual machine with added xterm looking into /etc/models.d wil show you some ;)
Kano: or i can give you that too
Erektium: <3
DaskReecH: ♡
DaskReecH: ♡♥
DaskReecH: ♡♥❣❣
netsurf3: anyone having perculuar ati activity with the new drivers
netsurf3: i get instability but things that it does work on are bloody fast
Kano: well for wine i prefer 8-5
netsurf3: 160fps as opposed to a normal 20
netsurf3: xpress 1100
Kano: what a card ;)
netsurf3: hah
netsurf3: its a horific piece of cat spew
Kano: at least you can add a nvidia pci-e card ;)
netsurf3: how? its a laptop
netsurf3: spooky glitch on splashtop btw kano :)
netsurf3: night
