mha: michaellarabel: more testsuit spam on the rss feed ;)
Brains: Okay, anybody have a handy reason for why the radeon driver (from git, with the rv770-ids.patch) wouldn't be able to pull EDID from some LCDs...
Brains: throws xrandr a modeline and such, gets his dual 1680x1050 monitors back. Also feels his eyes explode after going from 1680x1050 to 1024x768 and back a few times.
vadi2: 'Tom Chilton told us something interesting about playing World of Warcraft on the Linux platform -- Blizzard has actually had it working. For "compatibility purposes," they apparently had an internal build of the game that worked on Linux. But unfortunately for Linux users, they have no plans at all to bring the final game out on the system.'
redeeman: where do you see that?
vadi2: on digg
redeeman: michaellarabel ^^
maligor: digg, the most reliable source of information :P
redeeman: yeah well
redeeman: trust me, that piece of information is mostly correct
maligor: hmm... this is interesting
maligor: EnableRandR12
maligor: EnableMulticard
maligor: EnableCrossFire
redeeman: ,
redeeman: 2
vadi2: how can I tell git to overwrite my changed copy of a file with the one on the server?
vadi2: nvm, got it
redeeman: http://dev.www.reprap.org/bin/view/Main/WebHome
vadi2: old
Ivanovic: http://www.linux-gamers.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=2459
Ivanovic: ankh2 demo is available
Ivanovic: michaellarabel: news about it?
michaellarabel: Ivanovic: maybe
Ivanovic: there are some good webseeds behind the torrent, got an average downstream of 1.4MB/s
Ivanovic: and of course fglrx froze my system at starting the game (probably amdxmm related...)
maligor: all I've gleaned from amdxmm is xvideo related
maligor: seems to have color spaceconversion shaders and such
Ivanovic: maligor: yes, it is
Ivanovic: and at the beginning of the game logos tend to be shown...
Ivanovic: http://rafb.net/p/un9E0u96.html
Ivanovic: this is either glesx.so or amdxmm related, probably how both interact
Ivanovic: and i got crashes (freezes to be more precise) like this rather regulary since the latest driver which had massive changes in the multimedia area
maligor: seems to also have preliminary xrandr 1.2 support
Ivanovic: yes, xrandr shows some stuff
maligor: I mean there's a option EnableRandR12
Deanjo: Hmmm, another vender offering Suse preloaded
schestowitz: I have a quick query. I'm about to close a deal on a PC any moment. Does the Nvidia Geforce 7300GT 256MB work with dual head OK?
michaellarabel: schestowitz: Using the binary driver, yes.
schestowitz: Thanks a million! I was going to pick just the favourites, but no seller in the UK does that. I was relived enough to find Linux+AMD (quad-core)... but only NVidia among the options.
schestowitz: *relieved
michaellarabel: No problem. To set it up, just look at TwinView in nvidia-settings.
schestowitz: I've made a note, thanks.
Urigeller: hello there, anyone in here familiar with the issue around erroneous MTRR tables?
schestowitz: michaellarabel, would it be possible (no matter how hard) to combine two of these cards for triple-head?
michaellarabel: schestowitz: Yes, using Xinerama.
schestowitz: Thanks. I ask because my first Xinerama experience (2003) burned half a day. Afterwards it took no more than half an hour. Nothing scares me more than editing x config files (CTRL+BACKSPACE and pray :-) )
michaellarabel: it shouldn't be that hard to configure it these days.
schestowitz: michaellarabel, check out http://phorolinux.com/ubuntu-810-intrepid-ibex-alpha-1-screenshots.html
schestowitz: Spooky.
michaellarabel: schestowitz: Shucks, I thought that site died off.
vadi2: my god what a howto they got. download a file, then type commands to manually unzip and move the themes... when you can just drag the theme into the custimization window and it installs
schestowitz: michaellarabel: no, your evil twin is alive. Just a headsup since I told you when it was born....
michaellarabel: evil impostor is more like it, but yeah thanks for reminding me
cxo: Deanjo, hey mac
cxo: that board in the mac pro is definitely not an "Intel Server" board
cxo: the only thing standard about it is the cpu socket and pci-e slots
vadi2: do we have any french in here?
cxo: like from france?
cxo: je parle un peu
vadi2: This headline was on gmail news for 4 days now: "IT World Canada: Daily IT NewsWire - Microsoft fixes Windows Vista bugs".
vadi2: wth?
schestowitz: michaellarabel, thanks for the help. PC just bought. I'll need to get a second GPU.
michaellarabel: No problem
