Sabayon 7 vs. Ubuntu 11.10 Performance

There is not much difference in the graphics performance between the various Linux 3.0 kernels and the two Linux distributions, but this is not a huge surprise considering Sabayon 7 and Ubuntu 11.10 both ship the Catalyst 11.8 (fglrx 8.88.7) driver release.

With the PostMark disk benchmark, Sabayon was noticeably faster than Ubuntu 11.10 with this mail server benchmark that stresses disk writes.
