Unity and KDE were behind the other desktops with the Lightsmark performance, but this time the LXDE desktop was going through the most power.

Depending upon your graphics driver/hardware and desktop settings, the power consumption and performance can vary quite a bit between the different desktop environment options. There is not a definitive all-out winner if wanting to pick a desktop environment based upon power efficiency or performance. How is the power consumption of your Linux mobile device with your preferred desktop stack? Share your recommendations and thoughts in the forums.

As far as other Ubuntu 12.04 LTS benchmarks go, there are extensive power consumption results and Ubuntu 12.04 boot performance results already available along with the Intel vs. AMD KVM/Xen/VirtualBox virtualization showdown, historical KVM virtualization figures, Ubuntu 12.04 file-system testing, RHEL 6.2 vs. Ubuntu 12.04, 32-bit vs. 64-bit benchmarks, and early Mac OS X 10.8 comparison numbers. More benchmarks are forthcoming, including a closer look at the interesting Ubuntu 12.04 ARMv7 performance.
