The multi-threaded C-Ray ray-tracer has not seen any performance improvements for the Clarksfield notebook since Ubuntu 11.04, but with Ubuntu 12.04 the power consumption is at its best. Compared to Ubuntu 11.10, the power consumption of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS is lower by ten Watts! It's also one Watt lower than the ASPM-enabled Ubuntu 10.10. ASPM is the biggest contributor to the power-savings for this Lenovo ThinkPad notebook with this new Long-Term Support release.

Not only is the power consumption with the PostMark mail server disk benchmark in great shape, but also the PostMark performance itself on the EXT4 file-system is up by 31%.
