When this single-core notebook was under load from 7-Zip, its power consumption was comparable to that of Ubuntu Linux for the past two years.

The power consumption of the IBM ThinkPad has been flat-lined in recent Ubuntu releases -- there is not much in the way of power management to regress on with the oldest hardware when under load.

Stay tuned for the next round of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" benchmarking. On a related note, this weekend I did show the Nouveau driver power consumption from Ubuntu 12.04.
