
Switching from 64MB writes to 64MB reads but keeping with 32 threads, Mac OS X remained more responsive with a time of 4366 microseconds compared to Ubuntu's 4703 microseconds.

Mac OS X 10.5.6 was also much faster than Ubuntu 9.04 when it came to the PostgreSQL performance with pgbench. Mac OS X 10.5.6 had 1028 TPC-B transactions per second while Ubuntu 9.04 had much less at 389 TPS.
