EXT4 pulled a win with the Java-powered Bork File Encrypter. EXT4 was faster by a few percentage points than any of the other Linux file-systems that were tested. EXT3 pulled in second place while JFS and XFS were the slowest.

EXT4 pulled a very sizable lead with the IOzone benchmark. When it came to the 4GB write performance the EXT4 file-system managed an average write speed of 65MB/s while the second fastest file-system (XFS) was writing at 37MB/s. ReiserFS, JFS, and EXT3 were all writing under 30MB/s.
