Unlike the LAME results, Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 4 was slightly slower than Ubuntu 9.04 at encoding an AVI file using FFmpeg.

The 7-Zip compression results were slightly higher on the latest development release of the Karmic Koala.

NetApp's PostMark test had significantly better values with Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 4. This is largely due to EXT4 being the default file-system choice in Ubuntu 9.10.
