Our Qt4 2D testing with X RENDER is similar to past findings at Phoronix. While it depends upon the particular workload, generally the Xfce 4.10 desktop is the fastest while Unity and the GNOME Shell also have strong showings for 2D in general. KDE Plasma and LXDE were generally the slowest.
