When Ubuntu 11.04 was released, Phoronix provided Bootchart results for five different systems showing the boot performance from Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS through Ubuntu 11.04. Since Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, the boot time has unfortunately increased.

This boot performance benchmarking between Ubuntu 11.04 and Ubuntu 11.10 is using the same systems as the recent Ubuntu 11.10 performance benchmarking.

After performing a clean install on each system, Bootchart was installed and each system then rebooted three times before capturing the latest Bootchart result.

Testing is that simple and straight forward so let's jump to the results.
