At the request of many Phoronix readers, here are some benchmarks comparing the 64-bit performance of Ubuntu 11.04 versus a recent development build of Ubuntu 11.10. Six different systems were benchmarked for this comparison.

On each of the six systems, clean installations of Ubuntu 11.04 and Ubuntu 11.10 were performed. Each Ubuntu installation was tested in an "out of the box" configuration. Below are the system components for each of the six systems.

These six systems represent a diverse mix of hardware from an older AMD Opteron workstation to a modern Intel Sandy Bridge notebook.

A variety of benchmarks were executed on Ubuntu 11.04 and Ubuntu 11.10 for each system using the Phoronix Test Suite.
