The Bullet Physics Engine performance is the same across the past three Ubuntu releases as its more CPU limited than anything else in the Ubuntu OS stack.

The SmallPT global illumination renderer did report better scores with Ubuntu 10.10 than in the Long-Term Support release, but the changes were not too significant for the T61 or Core 100HT.

The 7-Zip compression performance improved between the 9.10 and 10.04.1 releases, but not during the Ubuntu 10.10 development cycle.

It also looks like the multimedia encoding performance has not changed much with Ubuntu 10.10. We also ran our MP3 and FLAC audio encoding tests, but like FFmpeg, there was no change either.
