NVIDIA Performance: Windows 7 vs. Ubuntu Linux 12.10

With the open-source Qfusion-based Warsow first person shooter, the default Ubuntu 12.10 results with the NVIDIA 304 Linux graphics driver did match that of Windows 7 and when switching to the KDE version there was a slight advantage to these Linux numbers -- this was the case at both resolutions and for all three graphics cards.

When running the Xonotic game at 1920 x 1080 and flipping between low, high, and ultra image quality settings, the Linux results led each time for the GeForce GTX 460 "Fermi" and GeForce GTX 680 "Kepler" graphics cards. The low-end GeForce GT 220 graphics card was struggling to compete under Linux.
