The NAS Parallel Benchmarks from NASA were mixed with this newer development release of Ubuntu. Compared to the Ubuntu 12.10 snapshot from early June, the newer version performed the same for the SP.A and LU.A workloads while it slightly regressed for BT.A and then improved for MG.B. The good news is that these numbers are all up compared to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, in large part this is due to ARM performance improvements made in upstream GCC 4.7.

While Ubuntu 12.10 2012-06-05 and Ubuntu 12.10 2012-07-27 are both on the GCC 4.7 series, the newer development build raises the performance noticeably from the PandaBoard ES for the FFTE test profile.
