If you are looking for an open-frame, four-post rack cabinet that's the perfect size for some home server/media equipment and doesn't run floor-to-ceiling, the StarTech.com 25U 4POSTRACK25U is a great fit. After having had great success with my 48U StarTech.com racks, I turned to the 25U rack for something smaller that can fit and look more normal outside of the server room.

With my four 48U StarTech.com racks they continue doing great and I continue to enjoy them, especially for their affordable price compared to others and is a four-post design that comes complete with casters and levelers. However, in hitting thermal and electrical thresholds for my basement server room, I decided to try out StarTech.com's 25U rack for putting in my front office. It's basically the same rack, just half the size. It offers enough space for my cleaning up of the few systems in the front office and isn't too awkward looking to get the wife angry with having another rack around.

The StarTech 25U rack sells for about $250 USD, which sadly isn't much cheaper than the 48U rack. This 25U rack can support up to 1200lbs (544kg) and comes with not only the casters and levelers but various cable management hooks too.

This four-post rack design assembles in the same way as its big brother while being very easy to assemble: the wife can easily setup the rack in about a half hour.
