Obviously these results are as expected based upon the other graphics cards used in this comparison. Pardon the lack of NVIDIA comparisons in this article, but can be blamed on NVIDIA's tough relationship with Phoronix, but if the hardware was available I'd be more than happy to include it in such Linux comparisons except their press department isn't too interested. With the Nexuiz-derived Xonotic, the Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 is about 20% faster than the Radeon HD 6870, but for this game any of the tested graphics cards are playable at 2560 x 1600 for this open-source game.

The Unigine tests continue to be the most demanding OpenGL benchmarks natively available for Linux at this time. With the proprietary Catalyst driver, the Radeon HD 6950 is about 32% faster than the Radeon HD 6870 for Unigine Sanctuary.
