While Oracle Linux 6.2 was not doing as well in the disk tests, when it comes to the NAS Parallel Benchmarks, which are OpenMP-focused and written in Fortran, there was a difference. This time Oracle Linux 6.2 was on top with these NPB tests. This had happened a few times for some of the NPB workloads.
Overall there is not too much to see from this testing. From the range of tests conducted on three distinct systems, across Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, Scientific Linux, and CentOS there was not much change. There were just a few subtle differences here and there and then the only areas to note beyond that was Oracle Linux struggling with some disk-focused tests. Picking one of the ELs should be more focused upon the support options, maintenance, and other features of their respective offerings.
Stay tuned for more EL 6.2 tests in the coming days.
