The only Xonotic test case where OS X 10.9 performed better than Ubuntu 13.10 was when utilizing ultra quality settings for the open-source OpenGL game, but the rest of the time the Ubuntu Linux performance with Intel i965 Mesa driver was noticeably faster.

The Urban Terror first person shooter was also much faster on Ubuntu 13.10 than OS X 10.9 Mavericks with the HD 3000 Sandy Bridge graphics.

While OS X 10.9 can claim GL4 support for Intel graphics, for at least the older Sandy Bridge graphics the open-source Intel Mesa driver can deliver superior performance. Tests from our other Apple systems and when testing other subsystems against Linux are still forthcoming on Phoronix.
