Building PHP on OpenSolaris 2009.06 with the default GCC 3.4.3 compiler provided by gcc-dev, it was about four seconds slower than OpenSolaris 2008.11 with the same compiler version. When switching to the newer GCC 4.3.2 release, the build time took an additional five seconds on top of that.

There was a small jump in performance with 7-Zip when built with GCC 4.3 on OpenSolaris 2009.06.

Compressing a 256MB file using LZMA compression took slightly more time on OpenSolaris 2009.06 when using the GCC 3.4-generated binary, but stepped up its performance when using the newer GNU Compiler Collection 4.3.

Some small changes in performance can be spotted with the GnuPG file encryption performance.
