The Solid 2 SSD actually was faster at decompressing the Linux kernel source-code package, but it was not by a large margin and this is not purely a disk test but there is some CPU work involved with the decompression.

Like the database test results, the Vertex 2 also shocked us when it came to running Dbench. With one Dbench client the average speed was 272MB/s, which is extremely close to the ratings on this OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G drive.

The Compile Bench performance was also extremely good for this drive and surprising how much faster it was with the Linux 2.6.36 EXT4 file-system when compared to other OCZ SSDs that were largely just last year's models.
