Starting with the PostMark e-mail disk benchmark, the Vertex 2 came out on top, which was no surprise. The Vertex 2 with its SandForce SF-1200 controller was 17% faster than the original Vertex that was released last year. The closest competition to the Vertex 2 from the SSDs we tested was the Solid 2, but even that was 7% slower.

The PostgreSQL performance really exploded and did amazingly well on the Vertex 2 when compared to earlier generation SSDs. Originally when we began testing SSDs the database performance would struggle, but now it is certainly catching up and modern SSDs are working quite well for databases.

Besides PostgreSQL, the SQLite performance on the Vertex 2 was insanely faster than the original Vertex and other OCZ SSDs.
