When starting with Doom 3, the difference is clear between the open-source Nouveau driver and the official but closed-source NVIDIA Linux driver. NVIDIA's closed-source driver is more than five times faster than the open-source driver...

With the Nexuiz game, the NVIDIA 313.09 binary blob is 7.6x faster than Nouveau.

Even with the lax OpenArena games, the margins are still huge between Nouveau and the official closed-source driver due to lack of any re-clocking support on Kepler and various other limitations.
