Published on Phoronix yesterday was a 21-way Linux GPU comparison using the open-source Intel / AMD / Nouveau graphics drivers. That article was followed by a fresh look at the Intel Windows vs. Linux performance. To get started on another day of Linux benchmarking to help users find the right PC hardware this holiday season, here's OpenCL compute benchmarks from nine different NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards while running Ubuntu Linux.

This article is quite straightforward and simply is about putting out some new NVIDIA OpenCL reference benchmarks from Ubuntu Linux for those interested in the GPGPU performance of the modern graphics cards over just the OpenGL graphics performance.

This article is complementing the recent NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Linux review and the GTX TITAN Windows vs. Linux comparison. The graphics cards tested for this article included the GeForce GTX 460, GTX 550 Ti, GT 610, GTX 650, GTX 680, GTX 760, GTX 770, GTX 780 Ti, and GTX TITAN.

All benchmarking was handled in a fully automated and comparable manner using the Phoronix Test Suite. If installing this multi-platform, professional-grade, open-source benchmarking software you can compare your own AMD/NVIDIA OpenCL Linux performance to the results in this article by simply running phoronix-test-suite benchmark 1311261-SO-NVIDIAGEF80. All nine NVIDIA graphics cards were tested on Ubuntu 13.10 with the Linux 3.11 kernel and NVIDIA 331.20 proprietary graphics driver.
