With World of Padman running off the same engine as OpenArena (ioquake3 engine), the performance changes here are close to the same, but some changes. The Radeon HD 6950 frame-rate goes up greatly (Cayman was still maturing when Mesa 7.11 was released), the HD 5750 is unchanged, the HD 4670 is up a little on Mesa 8.0, and the HD 3850 performance drops. The mature R300g performance is unchanged for this basic OpenGL game.

Up next will be the NVIDIA (Nouveau) and Intel Sandy Bridge Mesa 8.0 benchmarks. If you are looking for more open vs. closed-source driver benchmarks, power consumption numbers, and other data, be sure to read The Most Comprehensive AMD Radeon Linux Graphics Comparison.
