Is Windows 7 Actually Faster Than Ubuntu 10.04?

Next, we have Unigine Tropics, which was last year's tech demo from Unigine Corp. Again, when using ATI graphics, the performance was slightly faster under Ubuntu 10.04 but by no means significantly faster. With the NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX setup using the Intel Core i7 setup, it was faster under Windows and in some cases by a number of frames.

The Unigine engine has OpenGL, DirectX 10.0, and DirectX 11.0 (with the Heaven benchmark and newer revisions of the engine) rendering support, but with our multi-platform testing we are comparing just the OpenGL performance for obvious reasons.
