Intel Core i7 On Linux

Again, if you want to see how your system performs to the Intel Core i7 920, install the Phoronix Test Suite and run phoronix-test-suite benchmark michael-23540-28957-28437. That will take care of the test installation, setup, the actual testing process, and the parsing of results, all in an autonomous fashion.

From the initial look of things, the Core i7 is a great new product family that performs very well, can overclock exceptionally, and arrives with a great number of features like Hyper Threading, SSE4.1/SSE4.2, an integrated DDR3 memory controller, and much more. This is just a very cursory look at the Intel Core i7, but we will be back shortly with more benchmarks, including virtualization benchmarks, but we just wanted to get this information and numbers out there now for people interested in seeing how their system stacks up.
